The Democratic Council of Albanian Americans (DCAA) is a volunteer-led organization. We believe in the fundamental principles of the United States to protect human rights, promote democracy, save the environment, advance equality and justice, foster prosperity, and secure peace both at home and aboard. Those activities represent the promise of America and are central to the platform of the Democratic Party.

DCAA’s mission is to strengthen democracy in the United States by supporting our community’s engagement in the political process and Democratic candidates for office.

DCAA is led by a Board of Directors consisting of Democrats who are or have been elected officials, political appointees, candidates for offices, donors, and organizers. We pursue our mission through direct engagement with candidates and their campaigns, grassroots organizing, communications, and representation on the National Democratic Ethnic Coordinating Council of the Democratic National Committee.

By engaging in these activities, we seek to increase the support of candidates and elected officials for causes important to our community. We also hope to encourage more Albanian Americans to intern in government offices, work at advocacy organizations, participate in political campaigns, and seek appointed and elected positions. 

Guiding Principles

The Democratic Council of Albanian Americans is guided in its work by the following principles.

• We believe civic and political engagement are two of the most important responsibilities of citizenship.
• We strive for civility in politics and support candidates who do the same.
• We inform U.S. policies by working with and supporting American politicians on issues of interest to our community.
• We support efforts by other community organizations to secure bi-partisan support among American decision makers, especially on issues affecting Albanians abroad.
• We seek to strengthen American democratic institutions through our engagement.
